Will and I have been discussing building out the back of our Honda CRV for a while now. We finally found the inspiration, made the plans, and created a kick-ass car bed. First, we turned to YouTube to find some solid information from fellow DIY lovers (I’m going to link the video we used at the end of this post). We curated a list of items needed for the build and agreed upon a rough blueprint plan. We spent a Sunday morning going to Home Depot to check off our list. We had to stop at Mavis Wine afterward to get our creative juices flowing. Then we went to work building out the platform bed frame.
The above picture is Felicia’s list of materials and costs that we ended up using as a reference point to guide our build. Our car dimensions were a bit different because our CRV is from 2014, but otherwise, we followed her lead.
We already owned most of the camping gear we brought with us from previous adventures, but we did turn to Amazon to purchase a few key items. I hope this information inspires someone to put together a plan and make their own car camping dreams come true!
